Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan Northwest convened a strategic meeting at the party’s local secretariat on Monday to strengthen unity and galvanise grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the gathering, the State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, urged ward executives from all 11 wards to intensify their engagement with party members and bolster efforts toward solidifying the party’s grassroots foundation. Adeleke reaffirmed confidence in the party’s performance in the region, insisting that Ibadan Northwest has been a dependable stronghold delivering consistent results for the PDP.
He also dismissed rumours of structural weakness following the recent defection of some members to other political parties, emphasising that the PDP’s organisational resilience remains intact.

Other prominent attendees, including Local Government Chairman Hon. Rahaman Adepoju and Local Government Party Chairman Hon. Fantola, called for greater inclusivity and reconciliation within the party, stressing that unity remains the party’s greatest strength. Hon. Fantola encouraged members to reach out to non-PDP affiliates in the community to build an even broader coalition.

The meeting, marked by active participation from grassroots leaders and stakeholders, reinforced the chapter’s dedication to loyalty, cohesion, and strategic mobilisation as the 2027 political cycle draws closer.
