The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Ibadan North East Local Government Chapter, has officially appointed Mrs. Khadijah Adebunmi Akintayo, wife of the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, as the Matron of the Association.

The inauguration ceremony, which also featured the swearing-in of the newly elected NCWS executives of Ibadan North East LG, was held at the Local Government Multipurpose Hall. The event attracted NCWS leaders from both the state and local government levels, political figures, women stakeholders, and other dignitaries.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Akintayo described NCWS as a vital platform that has consistently advanced the growth and development of women in society. She pledged her commitment to supporting the association’s mission and to ensuring women’s voices are amplified at both the local and state levels.

“The NCWS is an important association that has positively shaped the lives of women across communities. I am deeply honoured to serve as Matron and I promise to support the association in achieving greater recognition, respect, and acceptance for women,” she said.

The President of NCWS Ibadan North East Chapter, Mrs. Taiwo Ogunbode, expressed profound joy at the appointment, describing Mrs Khadijah Akintayo as a woman of reputable character who has always believed in promoting the interests of women. She further appreciated both the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo (popularly known as O mu Yes), and the Chairperson for their consistent support of the association.

The Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Omolara Aremu, also lauded the significance of NCWS, urging members to build on its legacy and further strengthen its impact within the community.

The swearing-in of the new NCWS executives was conducted on behalf of the State President, Deaconess Mrs. Oyelade Kikelomo, by executive member Chief Mrs. Bose Ojoye.

Other notable guests in attendance included the PDP Women Leader of Ibadan North East LG, Alhaja Adenike Abeje, and the wife of the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Mrs. Monsurat Sanda.

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) is Nigeria’s foremost women’s umbrella organization, established to mobilize and unify women towards nation-building, socio-economic empowerment, and advocacy for gender equity. Through its programmes, it continues to promote education, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities for women across all sectors of society.

With the appointment of Mrs. Khadijah Adebunmi Akintayo as Matron, and the inauguration of new executives, the Ibadan North East Chapter is set for a new era of growth, visibility, and impact in championing women’s development at both the grassroots and state levels.
