Ibadan North Bye-Election: Agboworin’s Team Shows Solidarity For PDP Candidate As Makinde Flags Off Campaign

A political team idemtified with the lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency,
Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has expressed solidarity with the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the forthcoming House of Representatives by-election, slated for August 16, 2025.

The gesture of TeamAgboworin for the PDP candidate exemplifies the party’s efforts to strengthen its base ahead of the elections.

At the campaign event, which held at the Bodija International Market, they were seen carrying placards with inscriptions that read: “Agboworin For DON” and other pro-DON messages, demonstrating their commitment to the PDP candidate’s success.

Agboworin, a two-term lawmaker, had, in a recent statement, lauded Governor Makinde’s leadership role, particularly in the choice of candidate for the bye-election, expressing confidence in PDP’s chances to reclaim the seat.

“We are ready to work with DON to ensure victory,” he said, emphasizing the party’s unity and determination.

Agboworin had vowed to mobilize all critical stakeholders, leaders, and party faithfuls in the Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency to support DON and secure a win for the party.

The highlight of the campaign flag-off ceremony was the presentation of the party’s flag to the candidate by the governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde amkng other government functionaries.

The governor appreciated the people for their support since the inception of his administration, saying “The victory in the August 16 by-election would be proof that Oyo State belongs to PDP and that the people recognise and appreciate good governance.”

He described DON as the right man for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, citing his experience as a former Member of the House of Assembly and his contributions to the success of the state government as Deputy Chief of Staff.

Makinde urged the people of Ibadan North to rally behind the PDP candidate, stressing that DON’s election into the Green Chamber would bring visible development and impactful representation to the constituency.

“Our candidate that you would vote for on the 16th, who will go and represent the people of Ibadan North federal constituency, was once an honourable member at the Oyo State Assembly and he did well. He didn’t disappoint you. I chose him as my Deputy Chief of Staff because of his good track record and antecedents,” Makinde added.

The PDP campaign launch drew a massive crowd, including top government officials, party leaders, and stakeholders.

The event featured a live performance by renowned Fuji maestro, Alhaji Taye Currency, who thrilled the crowd and created a lively atmosphere.

With TeamAgboworin solidly behind DON, the PDP’s prospects for winning the seat appear promising.

Following the flagg off, the Team would embark on house-to-house and ward-to-ward campaign for the party, with a view to triumph at the poll.
