The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North has officially flagged off its campaign for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-Election in a grand event that drew massive support across all sectors and stakeholders of the constituency. The rally, held at the popular Bodija market on Monday, was marked by unity, enthusiasm, and a resounding call for victory on August 16.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the party’s flag to Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (Don) by the Executive Governor of Oyo State and Leader of the PDP in the Southwest, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

In his remarks, Governor Makinde praised Don’s remarkable trackrecord as an achiever, recalling his outstanding performance as the honourable member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 in the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly, where he made significant contributions to legislation and constituency development.

The Governor further noted that Don’s excellence earned him the position of Deputy Chief of Staff, a role in which he again distinguished himself through diligence and commitment.

“With his proven record of service, I am confident Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle will deliver effectively for the good people of Ibadan North at the National Assembly. I urge every eligible voter to come out en masse on August 16 to cast their votes for the PDP and make it a DonDeal,” Governor Makinde stated.

The Governor described the August 16 by-election as a must-win election. He said victory for the candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming by- election is a show of strength for the PDP as it will send a signal to all and sundry that Oyo State remains a PDP State.

In his address, the former deputy governor of Oyo Street, Barrister Azeem Gbolarumi said the people of Ibadan North Federal Contituency are not ungrateful people as they would show their appreciation to the Governor and the PDP for the various projects littered across the constituency through massive votes for Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle on August 16.

Gbolarumi, called on residents to rally behind Don’s candidacy, noting that Ibadan North has been a major beneficiary of the present PDP-led administration in Oyo State. He urged the people not to hesitate in supporting the candidate presented by the Governor’s party.

The event which also witnessed massive endorsements from diverse groups, including: market women and men in Bodija market and in Ibadan North Local Government, Presidents of Student Unions from institutions under Ibadan North Federal Constituency, the Hausa and Igbo communities, the Pensioners’ Association, Widows’ Association and other major stakeholders across the constituency

In his welcome address, the Director-General of the Campaign, Hon. Demola Kamil Omotosho, commended the large turnout despite the rain, a sign he described as that of victory for the PDP and its candidate in the August 16 by-election.

He described the PDP candidate as an achiever who will bring dividends of democracy to the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency. He assured the people to take faith in the PDP candidate and cast their votes for him and he will not disappoint them.

He described the campaign flag-off as a sign of the overwhelming support PDP and its candidate enjoy in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

The program was widely regarded as a huge success, further cementing the confidence that the forthcoming by-election is indeed a #DonDeal.
