Ibadan Has Lost A Royal Gem in Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Mohood Balogun – Ibadan Descendants’ Union
On behalf of Ibadan Descendants’ Union (IDU), USA, I express sadness over the joining of his ancestors of Ibadan’s iconic monarch, late Oba Senator Mohood Ọlálékan Balogun, Allí-Okunmade II on Thursday night. I also express heartfelt commiseration to the Government of Oyo State led by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, the Olúbàdàn-in-Council, comprising the Royal Kings, the Traditional Chiefs, the Mogajis and the Baales, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) led by President-General, Barrister Niyi Ajewole, the entire Ali-Iwo family, especially the Oloris and Senator Dr. Kola Balogun and the entire people of Ibadan home and abroad on the sad demise of our revered Monarch.
Ibadan in particular and Oyo and Nigeria in general have lost a royal gem in Oba Senator Mohood Lekan Balogun who transited to the great beyond when the cosmopolitan city of Ibadan, the pacesetting Oyo State and Nigeria needed his wise counsel and meaningful interventions in social, political and economic developments.
Oba Lekan Balogun lived an exemplary life as an accomplished corporate player, a profound politician and a rare royalty in the history of Ibadanland. The late former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be sorely missed for his ebullient nature, wise counsel and fatherly profundity.
We at IDU, USA pray for the repose of the soul of Oba Senator Mohood Lekan Balogun, that Allah showers His mercy on him in his grave, that Allah should count him among the deserving residents of Aljanah fridous.
