Ex Oyo State House of Assembly member representing Oluyole State Constituency who also doubled as the Chairman House committee on investment monitoring and State economic planning in the 9th Assembly, Hon Francis Adewale Adetunji has Commends Governor Seyi Makinde for Upgrading Ibadan Airport to International Status.

As the former Chairman of the Oyo State House Committee on Investment Monitoring and State Economic Planning, I, Hon. Francis Adewale Adetunji, wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for the historic flag-off of the upgrade of Ibadan Airport to international status. This transformative step is a testament to the governor’s commitment to the economic advancement and infrastructure development of Oyo State.

The decision to upgrade the Ibadan Airport could not have come at a better time. With Oyo State’s strategic location and its economic potential, this upgrade is a critical move that will open doors to new opportunities in trade, investment, and tourism. As someone who has been deeply involved in monitoring the state’s investments and economic plans, I can confidently say that this bold initiative will accelerate the growth of our local economy and position Oyo State as a central hub in Nigeria’s development landscape.

This upgrade is more than just an infrastructure project—it is a gateway to endless possibilities. By bringing Ibadan into the fold of cities with international airports, Governor Makinde is making a statement that Oyo State is ready to compete on the global stage. The impact of this upgrade will be felt across all sectors of the economy. Businesses, both local and foreign, will find Ibadan a more attractive location for investment, given the easier access to international markets.

Tourism, a sector with untapped potential, stands to benefit significantly as well. Oyo State is rich in culture, history, and heritage. With an international airport, we will now be able to draw in visitors from around the world to explore our vibrant traditions and historical landmarks. This will boost local businesses and create a ripple effect that will enhance the livelihoods of many.

The economic benefits of this project are also far-reaching. It will create thousands of jobs, both in the construction phase and when the airport becomes fully operational. The aviation sector, logistics companies, and hospitality businesses will experience significant growth, creating employment opportunities for our people and uplifting the local economy.

Governor Makinde’s visionary leadership has consistently prioritized the well-being and development of Oyo State, and this project is a clear reflection of his dedication. As the former Chairman of the Committee on Investment Monitoring and State Economic Planning, I recognize the immense value this upgrade will bring in terms of fostering economic partnerships and enhancing the state’s overall economic outlook.

The people of Oyo State have every reason to celebrate this milestone. Under Governor Makinde’s leadership, the state is experiencing a renaissance in infrastructure development that will position us for a prosperous future. His bold decision to upgrade Ibadan Airport to international status is a testament to his focus on sustainable growth and the empowerment of the people.

I, Hon. Francis Adewale Adetunji, join the people of Oyo State in applauding Governor Seyi Makinde for this visionary initiative. We are excited about the future and the many possibilities this project will bring. With Governor Makinde’s continued commitment to development, Oyo State is truly on the path to becoming a global economic powerhouse.

Governor Makinde, on behalf of the people of Oluyole, Ibadan and Oyo State both home and in diaspora, we thank you for your dedication, foresight, and unwavering leadership. The upgrading of Ibadan Airport marks a new dawn for Oyo State, and we look forward to the bright future that awaits us all.
