A prominent socio-political support group across board, Seyi Makinde Disciples (SMD), has passed a resounding vote of confidence on the Executive Governor of Oyo State and Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as Ibadan host the 2025 PDP Elective National Convention.
In a goodwill message released on Saturday and jointly signed by the group’s Convener, Prince Laja Adeoye, and its Spokesman, Olusegun C.A. Taiwo (OCAT), the SMD praised Governor Makinde for his “courageous, exemplary and stabilizing leadership” within the PDP and across the country.
According to the statement, “Governor Seyi Makinde has consistently demonstrated uncommon capacity, integrity, and vision in steering the affairs of Oyo State and contributing significantly to the repositioning of our great party, the PDP. We proudly pass a vote of confidence on his leadership as Ibadan hosts one of the most important political gatherings in Nigeria’s democratic calendar.”
The group described the choice of Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, as the venue for the 2025 National Convention as a testament to the infrastructural renewal and conducive environment created under Governor Makinde’s administration. It noted that hosting delegates from all 36 states of the federation including the FCT places Oyo State at the center of national political discourse.
The SMD further applauded Governor Makinde’s role in championing reforms aimed at strengthening internal democracy, promoting unity within the party, and ensuring credible leadership emerges through the “Ibadan 2025 Reposition Congress” holding November 15th – 16th, 2025.
“Under Makinde’s watch, the PDP is witnessing refreshing stability and direction. His leadership style marked by fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness continues to inspire both the youth, women, and elders of our party,” the statement added.
SMD also highlighted Makinde’s achievements in governance, describing his projects, such as the newly commissioned Ibadan Central Bus Terminal, as emblematic of his commitment to modernizing the state and enhancing the welfare of citizens.
As the PDP prepares for the Elective National Convention, the group called on all stakeholders to rally behind Governor Makinde and embrace the spirit of unity and progress that the Ibadan Reposition Congress represents.
“Ibadan is ready. Oyo State is ready. And Governor Makinde has once again proven that he is a leader prepared for the responsibility of shaping the future of our party and our nation,” SMD declared.
The group concluded by wishing all delegates a successful and peaceful convention in the historic city of Ibadan.
