IB’ North Bye-election: From 9th Assembly To National Assembly, Hon. Babajide Gabriel Congratulates Oyekunle DON As He Receives Certificate Of Return

The House of Assembly member representing Ibadan North Constituency 2 and Jagaban of the 9th and 10th Assembly, Hon. Adebayo Babajide Gabriel, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (Don) on his emphatic victory in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday.

In his congratulatory message, Hon. Gabriel described Hon. Oyekunle’s victory as a resounding testament to the will of the people and a clear endorsement of his competence, capacity, and credibility.

“Hon. Don and I had the privilege of serving together in the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly between 2019 and 2023.

While he represented Ibadan North Constituency 1, I represented Ibadan North Constituency 2.

His outstanding contributions, legislative brilliance, and commitment to the ideals of good governance during that period distinguished him as one of the shining lights of the Assembly,” Gabriel stated.

Hon. Babajide Gabriel emphasized that the emphatic margin of victory further demonstrates the trust and confidence the people have in Hon. Oyekunle’s leadership. Hon. Don secured 18,404 votes to defeat his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Adewale Olatunji Murphy, who polled 8,312 votes.

He further noted that Hon. Oyekunle’s consistency, loyalty, and service both as a legislator and later as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde have now been rewarded with the overwhelming mandate given to him by the people of Ibadan North.

According to him, the victory not only reflects the people’s trust in Hon. Oyekunle but also signals a new dawn of progressive representation for the constituency at the National Assembly.

“I congratulate you, my brother and colleague in the 9th Assembly, on this well-deserved victory.

I also salute the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency for making the right choice by reclaiming the seat for our great party, the PDP, after many years.

There is no doubt in my mind that Hon. Don will serve with passion, humility, and an unwavering commitment to his people,” he added.

Hon. Babajide Gabriel also commended the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State PDP family for their collective efforts in delivering yet another electoral success, emphasizing that the victory demonstrates the unshakable bond between the PDP and the people of Oyo State.

He further rejoiced with Hon. Oyekunle on the official presentation of his Certificate of Return today in Abuja, describing it as a solid confirmation of the mandate freely given to him by the people of Ibadan North.

He concluded by urging Hon. Oyekunle to remain focused, people-oriented, and dedicated to advancing the aspirations of his constituents in the National Assembly, assuring him of his total support at all times.
