The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on his leadership role, particularly on the choice of candidate for the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.

He similarly congratulated the emergence of Hon. Folajimi Oyedokun (DON), who has emerged as the consensus candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for the election.

Agboworin, in a statement signed by his Media Group on Saturday, vowed to give full support for the bye-election, slated to hold on Saturday August 16, 2025.

The lawmaker assured that all the critical stakeholders and supporters of the party in his federal constituency would be heavily mobilized to work for the victory of the party at the Poll.

Agboworin, who is a two-term lawmaker, expressed confidence in PDP’s chances to reclaim the seat, saying that they are ready to work with the PDP candidate, with a view to come out victorious.

He urged other aspirants to see themselves as winners and the emergence of Hon. Folajimi as the will of God for the party to move forward in the state.

He tasked them to remain united and wholeheartedly work together with the candidate, with a view to ensuring victory for the party at the election.

He said: “I want to use this opportunity to thank my Principal and governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his leadership role, especially in the choice of the party’s candidate for the forthcoming bye-election.

“Let me also state clearly that as a representative of my constituency, I have a major role to play in the bye-election. And that is why I can assure that we will all get involved in the process.

“First, the candidate of the PDP, who has emerged under the leadership of my Principal, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, would get our support.

“Also, we will do everything possible to ensure we mobilise all the critical stakeholders, leaders, party faithfuls in the Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency to support our candidate to win the election.

“From our end, we are ready to come all out for a thorough campaign for our party because we want to secure the seat at the federal level. We shall all get ourselves involved and do our best possible because I can’t wait for us to become six in the House of Representatives in Abuja.

“Having said that, I want to also call on other aspirants to work together with the emerged candidate for the progressbof our party. I believe all the aspirants are winners because we are all one in the PDP.”

The bye election exercise follows the passing of Hon. Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was serving his second term in the green chamber, rendering the seat vacant since July 10, 2024.
