‘I woke up to the sad news of our king’— Hon. Ramata Agberemi mourns Olubadan

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ramata Dabo Agberemi has mourned the late 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.

At the age of 82, the late monarch, who ruled for two years, joined his ancestors late on Thursday night at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

In a sombre chat with MOUTHPIECE NGR on Friday, Agberemi offered her condolences for the unexpected demise of the royal majesty to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council, the people of Ibadanland, and Oyo State as a whole.

She equally sympathized with Governor Seyi Makinde and Oyo state government over the Sudden death, describing the late monarch as an epitome of royal excellence and a great achiever.

Agberemi, who revealed that she met with him two weeks ago, added that she woke up to the tragic news of his passing and prayed to God to grant him eternal rest.

While maintaining that the late monarch led his people with the utmost diligence and modest dedication, the most prettiest aide to Governor Makinde, praised the late Olubadan for ruling with the fear of God.

She said: “I was rudely shocked to learn about Olubadan’s unexpected passing. During our recent meeting two weeks ago, I reminisced about his paternal qualities and the joyful way he received me at the installation of Alhaji Akinola Dedamark as Aare Olubadan. This is really a great loss to the family, Ibadanland and Oyo State.

“I wish to express my condolences to the Oyo State Traditional Council, the Olubadan-in-Council, and the people of Oyo State and Ibadanland in general.

“In this moment of grief, I wish to also express my condolences to the late Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun’s wife, Alli Okunmade II, and the queen of the monarch during this difficult time.

“During his two years reign, he accomplished a great deal and left his lasting imprint on history. He was brave, outspoken, and incredibly honest. He ruled with a fear of God and prioritised Ibadanland’s unification, advancement, and development at all times.

“I pray that God gives our late monarch’s soul peace, knowing that he left behind a lasting legacy that will reverberate through the ages.”
