The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his commitment to combating poverty rather than targeting the poor.

He made this declaration today, during the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrade of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan.

Governor Makinde emphasized his administration’s goal to alleviate poverty in Oyo State.

“I will continue to fight poverty and not fight poor people in Oyo State,” he stated, underscoring his dedication to improving the lives of the state’s residents.

With two years and seven months remaining in his tenure, Governor Makinde expressed his determination to elevate Oyo State to an enviable position.

“I will ensure Oyo reaches a state of El Dorado,” he pledged, highlighting his vision for the state’s future development.

During his address, Governor Makinde also extended his gratitude to Deputy Governor Barrister AbdulRaheem Adebayo Lawal for his exemplary performance while serving as acting governor during his leave.

He thanked the people of Oyo State for their unwavering support of the deputy governor during that period.

The ceremony marked a significant step in the state’s infrastructural development, reflecting the governor’s broader agenda of progress and prosperity for Oyo State.
