Honourable Segun Ebenezer Ogunwuyi, fondly known as OSE, is a name that commands deep respect across Oyo State and Nigeria at large. His political trajectory has been marked by a rare blend of competence, accessibility, and results-oriented representation. Currently serving as the Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, Hon. Ogunwuyi’s track record as a former Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ogbomoso North, South, and Oriire Federal Constituency remains a benchmark in public service delivery.

Transforming Rural Communities through Electrification
One of Ogunwuyi’s hallmark contributions was the electrification of no fewer than eight rural communities across his constituency. These include Olohunda, Elebue, Omidoyin, and Ipekun villages in Oriire; Yaku and Ire-Akari in Ogbomoso North; and Aje-Iya and Saw-mill Obandi in Ogbomoso South. His commitment to power infrastructure also led to the installation of a transformer and electric poles at Moboluwaduro Baptist Church in Baaki, energizing communities and stimulating local economies.

Education and Human Capital Development

Hon. Ogunwuyi prioritized education by constructing modern classroom blocks in various schools such as Nurudeen Primary School (Ikuye), Excellent Basic Primary School (Idi-Ayin), CAC Primary School (Obamo/Olode), and Community Basic Primary School (Owolaake). Through his Education Support Programme, over 10,000 SS3 students received comprehensive WAEC, NECO, and JAMB past questions spanning three decades. He further enhanced learning environments by donating notebooks to 59 primary schools and desks/chairs to 25 others.

He sponsored a widely celebrated quiz and debate competition through the Federation of Ogbomoso Students’ Union (FOGSU) and donated a branded Aluta Bus to the union, solidifying his reputation as a student-friendly leader.
ICT and Digital Empowerment

Hon. Ogunwuyi’s visionary leadership ushered in a new era of digital literacy in Ogbomoso with the establishment of an ICT centre offering free computer training and internet services. Over 700 graduates became certified, and more than 2,000 JAMB candidates received free CBT training. He also facilitated a cutting-edge ICT centre at LAUTECH and distributed laptops as part of his empowerment agenda.
Healthcare, Welfare, and Social Inclusion
Ogunwuyi facilitated a Federal Medical Centre at Papa Abede layout, significantly improving healthcare access. His empathy extended to social welfare, demonstrated by his visits to the Kersey Children’s Home, Blind Centre, and Leper Colonies where he donated essential items including food, mattresses, mosquito nets, and detergents.
Youth Empowerment and Vocational Training
Understanding the challenges of unemployment, Ogunwuyi launched multiple skill acquisition initiatives including the Ogunwuyi Skill Acquisition Programme (OSAP) in tailoring, barbing, and hairdressing. In collaboration with SMEDAN and PRODA, hundreds were trained in soap making and tuber processing. He also began the construction of a modern Skill Acquisition Centre and facilitated FG-backed vocational programs through the National Directorate of Employment.
Record-Breaking Mega Empowerment
A flagship empowerment event at Ogbomoso High School saw life-changing distributions:
11 Cars, 60 Motorcycles, 10 Deep Freezers
73 Generators, 136 Grinding Machines, 128 Standing Fans
112 Gas Cookers, 33 Hair Dryers, 216 Fertilizer Packs
Laptops, barbing clippers, sewing machines, and washing basins for vocational graduates
He equally disbursed cash support to various trade associations, markets, and artisan unions including tailors, butchers, bricklayers, and more.
Legislative Prowess and Global Engagement
Hon. Ogunwuyi was a vital contributor to 10 strategic House Committees including Youth Development, Aids & Loans, Constitution Review, and National Planning. He represented Oyo State in the Constitution Review Committee and raised important motions including the urgent rehabilitation of the Oyo-Ogbomoso road.
On the global stage, he represented Nigeria at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and led a delegation to the European Union Parliament in Brussels, promoting democratic reforms and youth inclusion in politics. He has also participated in multiple peacekeeping efforts across Africa.
