Akinyele Local Government, under the visionary leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, has once again demonstrated its commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable Prosperity.

In collaboration with Good Deeds Day International, Oyo State Chapter, the council organized a transformative training program themed Waste to Wealth, held at the Akinyele Local Government Conference Hall, Moniya.

The event gathered hundreds of eager students, all ready to explore practical solutions to environmental challenges while unlocking economic opportunities.

Declaring the training open, The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye highlighted the significance of the initiative in today’s economic climate.

He stressed that waste-to-wealth skills are not only vital for environmental preservation but also hold immense economic value. According to him, the program is especially useful for fresh graduates and unemployed youths who seek sustainable pathways to self-reliance. He emphasized the importance of embracing self-employment and urged all participants to fully utilize the knowledge and tools provided during the training.

The Executive Chairman further noted that the waste management sector remains a largely untapped goldmine in Nigeria. He encouraged participants to view waste not as a burden, but as a resource capable of generating multiple streams of income when properly harnessed. He expressed his belief that the participants would leave the program equipped with the skills needed to convert everyday waste into valuable products that can benefit both their pockets and the environment.

Other speakers at the event reinforced this message, shedding light on the environmental and economic benefits of transforming waste into wealth. They explained how proper waste conversion could reduce pollution, promote recycling, and create business opportunities in areas such as compost production, plastic repurposing, craft creation, and renewable energy. Their presentations inspired the attendees, painting a clear picture of the vast potential embedded in what many often discard.

The collaboration between Akinyele LG and Good Deeds Day International stands as a testament to the council’s dedication to building a future where young people are empowered, environmentally conscious, and economically productive. Indeed, Akinyele LG has set a shining example for other local governments to follow in driving sustainable development and youth capacity building.
