Hon Abeeb Idowu Balogun Hosts Ibadan South West Constituency 2 Football Competition to Boost Youth Engagement

Honourable Alhaji Abeeb Idowu Balogun (AIB), a prominent grassroots leader in Ibadan South West Local Government Area, is set to host the Ibadan South West Constituency 2 Football Competition, scheduled to hold from 2nd to 17th May, 2026 at IMG Apata, Ibadan.

The football competition, organised under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is a strategic grassroots sports initiative aimed at promoting youth engagement, talent discovery, and community cohesion across Wards 7 to 12 of Ibadan South West Constituency 2.

Honourable Abeeb Idowu Balogun (AIB), who serves as the Chief Host and Organizer, has consistently demonstrated commitment to grassroots development, earning him widespread recognition as Baba Alanu and Oko Awon Arugbo due to his close connection with the people.
The tournament enjoys the support of notable political and community leaders.

Otunba Seye Famojuro, a renowned humanitarian and close associate of Governor Seyi Makinde, will grace the event as Father of the Day, while Yeyeluwa Alhaja Bose Adedibu, prominent South-West political figure and widow of the late Chief Lamidi Adedibu, will serve as Mother of the Day.

The competition will officially kick off on 2nd May, 2026, with the Third Place Match slated for 16th May, and the Grand Finale holding on 17th May, 2026. A total prize pool of ₦500,000 has been earmarked for the top three teams, with ₦250,000 for the winner, ₦150,000 for the runner-up, and ₦100,000 for the third-place team.

The event is expected to attract a wide range of stakeholders, including PDP State Executives, members of the Oyo State PDP Executive Council (Exco) led by the State Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, as well as ward chairmen, community leaders, and party faithful across Ibadan South West.

Holding the tournament at IMG Apata provides a central and accessible hub for residents of Wards 7–12 to interact directly with party leadership in a vibrant, sports-driven atmosphere. Beyond football, the gathering is designed to strengthen party unity, foster political networking, and reinforce the PDP’s grassroots structure ahead of future electoral cycles.

As the momentum builds toward the 2027 elections, the competition stands as a strong symbol of the PDP’s “Power to the People” initiative and a clear reflection of Hon. Abeeb Idowu Balogun’s deep understanding of the pulse of the streets.
