History Maker: Alaafin Owoade Commission New Mosque Built By Skimeh In Remembrance of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III

In a grand ceremony attended by esteemed guests, His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo, commissioned a new mosque built by Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, also known as Skimeh, in commemoration of the three-year anniversary of the passing of his father, Late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.

The Alfathu-L-Qareeb Muslim Organization of Nigeria’s new mosque, aptly named ‘Oba Adeyemi III Qareeb Mosque’, was constructed as a tribute to the late monarch. The commissioning ceremony drew prominent figures, including Obas, chiefs, politicians, business moguls, and religious leaders.

Two renowned scholars, Sheikh Muhyidini Salman Bello, Grand Chief Imam of Offa, and Sheikh Abubakar Isah Authentic Solatty, delivered sermons, praising Hon. Adeyemi’s visionary commitment to the Islamic community. They highlighted the significance of investing in acts of worship that benefit humanity.

The Grand Chief Imam of Offa emphasized the rewards of building a mosque, citing the Quran, and encouraged others to emulate Hon. Adeyemi’s exemplary act. Sheikh Abubakar Authentic Solatty extolled Hon. Adeyemi’s virtues, calling on the people of Oyo to rally behind their “golden son” as he continues to contribute to the community’s development.

Hon. Akeem Adeyemi shared the story behind the mosque’s construction, revealing that his late father had demanded it in his dreams. He stated, “Today’s commissioning is only in fulfillment of what Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi demanded.”

The National Missioner of Alfathu-L-Qareeb, Dr. Fadlu Rahman Kehinde Tijani, expressed gratitude to Hon. Skimeh for fulfilling their request and assured him of proper maintenance of the facilities.

In his remarks, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, commended Hon. Adeyemi’s excellent strides and called for unity of purpose across Oyo. The event featured the delivery of a panegyric for the late Alaafin Atiba, Lamidi Adeyemi III, and Owoade by the late Alaafin’s wives, led by Ayaba Ramat Adedayo Adeyemi.

The newly constructed mosque boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a modern ablution space named ‘Ayaba Sulat Adeyemi Ablution Center’, featuring nine standard toilet and bathroom facilities.
