After a 17-year hiatus, the ministry has broken new ground with a landmark recruitment drive, ushering in a new era of revitalization and growth. Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, and the servant leadership of Honorable Commissioner, Mr. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, the ministry has welcomed 32 new junior and senior officers, injecting fresh talent and expertise into its ranks.
This strategic move aligns with the ministry’s mission to optimize land use, promote sustainable development, and enhance the quality of life for citizens. The new recruits have undergone comprehensive orientation and sensitization training, equipping them to tackle the challenges of urban planning, land administration, and housing development.
In tandem with this milestone, the Oyo State Government has announced the enforcement of the Land Use Charge (LUC) on commercial, educational, health, industrial, and residential properties, in line with the 2024 Land Use Charge law. This move aims to enhance revenue generation, promote transparency, and ensure compliance with international best practices in land management.
The Hon. Commissioner for Lands, Housing, Survey and Urban Development, Mr. Akin-Funmilayo Williams has warned that property owners who fail to pay their Land Use Charge will face necessary actions, emphasizing the importance of compliance in achieving the state’s development goals.
As Nigeria navigates economic instability, food insecurity, and other challenges, Oyo State is trailblazing a path of progress and growth.
This achievement demonstrates the state’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for sustainable development, economic prosperity, and improved quality of life.
We commend Governor Makinde and Honorable Commissioner Williams for their visionary leadership and dedication to excellence in the lands and housing sector.”
