Residents of Ibadan North East Local Government on Monday benefited from a free medical test and treatment programme organised as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of Oyo State.
The health outreach, themed “Health is Wealth,” was held at Alafaara Primary Health Centre, Alafaara, Oje, Ibadan, and attracted a large turnout of community members who received free medical consultations, health screenings, and treatments.
Speaking at the events, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, popularly known as “O MU YES,” described the initiative as a clear demonstration of the people-oriented and inclusive style of governance being promoted by the Oyo State Government.
Hon. Akintayo commended His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for prioritising the welfare of the masses and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach grassroots communities, particularly in the area of healthcare delivery.
According to him, accessible and affordable healthcare remains a critical pillar of sustainable development, stressing that the local government will continue to complement the state government’s efforts in improving the health and well-being of its citizens.
The council chairman also congratulated the good people of Ibadan North East Local Government and Oyo State at large on the golden jubilee celebration, describing Oyo as a “pacesetter state” with a rich history and a promising future.
Beneficiaries of the medical outreach expressed appreciation to the state and local governments for the initiative, noting that the free medical services had helped address pressing health needs, especially among the elderly and low-income residents.
The programme formed part of a series of community-based activities organised across the state to commemorate Oyo at 50, celebrating five decades of progress, resilience, and people-centred development.
