Governor Makinde to Cheer on Falconets as Nigeria Takes on Rwanda in World Cup Qualifier

The highly anticipated match between Nigeria and Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier has just gotten more electrifying with the announcement that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will be in attendance.

Governor Seyi Makinde, who gave the green light for the game to be hosted at Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, is also set to declare the Nigeria Football Federation’s 81st Annual General Assembly open. The assembly will take place in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Saturday.

Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko; Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi; Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu and; former NFF President and former FIFA and CAF Member, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, are among dignitaries expected at the occasion.

Former NFF 1st Vice President, Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi and; former NFF General Secretaries, Ambassador Fanny Amun and Dr Bolaji Ojo-Oba, are among prominent persons that have also been invited.

The Annual General Assembly of the NFF congregates all Chairmen and Secretaries of Football Associations of the 36 States and the FCT, with all Members of the NFF Executive Committee and Management in attendance, as well as chairmen and secretaries of the various Leagues, the Coaches Association, the Referees Association, and the Players’ Union.

Governor Seyi Makinde and other esteemed dignitaries from across the nation are scheduled to attend the highly anticipated match between Nigeria’s Under-20 team, Falconets, and their Rwandan counterparts on Saturday at 4 pm.
