Former Oyo State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Raphael Afonja AbdulRahman has supported Oodua People’s Congress OPC with five motorcycles to strengthen security architecture in Ogbomoso zone and across Oyo state.

MOUTHPIECE NGR can report that Prof. Afonja presented the gifts of motorcycle in anticipation of the upcoming coronation of Soun of Ogbomosoland, HRM, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Laoye, Orumogege III.

During the official presentation on Monday at his residence in Ogbomoso, the ex-commissioner said he felt the need to give out those motorcycle as a matter of urgency in preparation of the coronation and in a bid to avert any looming security challenges.

“We have to make sure we support all law enforcement agencies, including the OPC”.

The PDP chieftain further explained that he decided to tread this direction of gifting them motorcycles in a bid to contribute his quota and as a result of his longstanding experience in the security sector as Managing Director of a security outfit.

“I’ve decided to tread this path of supporting the OPC because I understand the urgency to make sure our communities are secured and safe. In addition to that, my security outfit will also be playing a critical role at the upcoming coronation to support the sisters’ security outfits.”- He added.

In their separate remarks, Mr Tunji Ajibola and Baba Alabede who are the OPC coordinators heap praised on Prof Afonja for his kind gesture, adding that the OPC in Ogbomoso zone has never received such a befitting recognition as shown by Afonja.

“Nobody in the past has ever extended such a gesture to us in recent times. This will be the first and we are grateful to Prof Afonja.”
