Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, FCA, the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland has openly declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship seat in 2027, as he featured on Political Circuit, a political program anchored by Mayor Isaac Brown on Fresh FM, Ibadan, on Saturday.

The 90-minute interview was both engaging and revealing, as Adegoke spoke extensively on his political journey, his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and his vision for the future of Oyo State.
On his political future, starting with his quote “Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance”, Olooye Adegoke confirmed his ambition, declaring that he would be contesting for the office of Governor of Oyo State in 2027.

The Prominent politician and financial expert said his studies and consultations strongly indicate he has what it takes to emerge victorious, stating that he has “ticked all the necessary boxes.”

Speaking also about his deep connection to Oyo State, Adegoke recalled living in Oke-Ogun during his childhood, studying in Ogbomoso for his A-levels, and later spending much of his adult life in Ibadan.
These experiences, he said, have given him a broad understanding of the state’s cultural and political landscape.
On the sensitive issue of power shift, Adegoke stressed that Ibadan, with the largest share of voters, has historically produced the state governor.
He argued that while aspirations from Oke-Ogun and other zones should not be discouraged, fielding a candidate outside Ibadan could weaken PDP’s chances if the opposition presents an Ibadan candidate.
Demonstrating his spirit of sportsmanship, the PDP chieftain encouraged other aspirants to join the race, emphasizing that consultations, political studies, and financial strength are critical factors in producing a viable governorship candidate for the party.

In conclusion, Olooye Adegboyega expressed confidence in PDP’s continued dominance in Oyo State politics. He revealed that Governor Makinde and other PDP leaders gave him a rousing reception upon his defection, describing the party as united and people-focused.
In his words, “APC is still battling leadership issues that may last another 10 years, but PDP is blessed with a performing governor whom the people of Oyo love. No doubt, PDP will win the next governorship election.”
