Additionally, the PDP chairman in the state and all local government chairpersons are also reported to have joined the APC.

The immediate past governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; the current deputy governor, Monday Onyeme; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor; several House of Representatives members; and numerous other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in the state have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Additionally, the PDP chairman in the state and all local government chairpersons are also reported to have joined the APC.

Earlier, SaharaReporters revealed that the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, had officially defected from the PDP to the APC in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

According to reliable sources, Governor Oborevwori convened a closed-door meeting on Wednesday with the 25 local government council chairmen, members of the State House of Assembly, and other key PDP stakeholders at the Government House, where he formally announced his decision to leave the PDP for the ruling APC.

Former governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who was the PDP’s vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 election, was reportedly present at the meeting.
A senior official of the State House of Assembly, who spoke to SaharaReporters on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that the governor is also preparing to dissolve his cabinet to accommodate new appointments, including members of the APC.
“In a few days’ time, the governor will also be dissolving his cabinet to accommodate other APC members,” the source said.
The announcement was made on Wednesday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, by Senator James Manager, shortly after the meeting that lasted over six hours at Government House, Asaba.
Manager confirmed that “former Governor Okowa, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, state party chairman, all the local government chairmen and others, have agreed to move to the APC,” describing the PDP as a “sinking boat”.
The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Aniagwu Charles, officially confirmed the governor’s defection and the collective decision of Delta PDP leaders and stakeholders to join the APC.
A principal officer of the State House of Assembly who attended the meeting said, “In a few days’ time, the governor will also be dissolving his cabinet to accommodate other APC members.
“The arrangement will be a 60/40 thing. The APC will take 40 while the PDP will take 60 in the new cabinet to be formed in the shortest possible time. As we move on, other things and plans will be unveiled. The 60/40 will also be applied in the structure of the state party.”
