Oseni Afeez Olayimika has officially declared his intention to contest for the Chairmanship position of Atiba Local Government, setting the tone for what promises to be a keenly watched political contest ahead of the December, 2026 local government elections.

In a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo, announcing his ambition, Oseni said his decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders, community leaders, and residents across the local government area. He noted that the overwhelming encouragement and endorsement he received played a decisive role in shaping his resolve to step forward.
According to him, the aspiration is not borne out of personal ambition or self-interest, but rather a genuine call to service driven by the yearnings and expectations of the people.

He emphasized that the appeal from members of the Royal Council and other concerned citizens underscored the need for responsive and inclusive leadership at the grassroots level.

Oseni further stressed his commitment to delivering purposeful governance that prioritizes development, transparency, and the welfare of the people of Atiba Local Government. He assured residents that his administration, if elected, would focus on strengthening local institutions and fostering sustainable growth across all sectors.
Highlighting the importance of unity and collective responsibility, the chairmanship hopeful called on political stakeholders, youths, women groups, and traditional institutions to rally behind his vision for a more progressive Atiba. He maintained that meaningful development can only be achieved through collaboration and shared commitment.

He also reiterated his belief in grassroots democracy, noting that leadership at the local government level must remain accessible, accountable, and people-oriented. Oseni pledged to run an open-door administration that listens to the concerns of the people and responds effectively to their needs.

While soliciting support from the electorate, Oseni expressed optimism about the journey ahead, calling for prayers and continued guidance as he embarked on the political race.
He concluded his declaration with a note of humility and faith, praying for divine direction and ultimate success.
With his entry into the race, political observers say the Atiba Local Government chairmanship contest is gradually gaining momentum, as aspirants begin to position themselves ahead of
