First Female AMLSN Chairperson, Mrs. Akinbile, Commends Dr. Fagbemi’s Leadership, Presents Key Sectoral Demands

…As AMLSN Oyo Chapter Strengthens Ties with Hospitals Management Board

The Oyo State chapter of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), led by its newly elected and first female chairperson, Mrs. Akinbile Adebola, paid a courtesy visit to the management of the Oyo State Hospitals Management Board (OYSHMB), under the leadership of Dr. Akin Fagbemi.

The visit which was aimed to strengthen the existing relationship between the association and the board.

While speaking on the reason of her visit, The Chairperson of The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) Mrs. Akinbile expressed appreciation for Dr. Fagbemi’s exemplary leadership and commended his transformative contributions to the health sector in Oyo State.

She highlighted how the board, under the direction of Dr. Akin Fagbemi has benefitted from significant reforms aligned with the people-oriented governance agenda of His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE, through the Omi-Tuntun 2.0 development blueprint.

She noted that the board’s initiatives have improved the efficiency of public health institutions, enhanced access to quality healthcare, and reinforced the state’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Mrs. Akinbile also presented key issues requiring the board’s attention, including the non-payment of teaching allowances to medical laboratory scientists, the need for improved laboratory infrastructure and equipment maintenance, the establishment of a central quality assurance unit for public laboratories, and the upgrading and automation of medical laboratory services.

In his remarks, Dr. Fagbemi congratulated the new chairperson and her executive team on their emergence, acknowledging their dedication, perseverance, and professionalism.

He emphasized his commitment to an open-door policy and described his leadership style as that of a team leader rather than a boss, stating, “I fail as a boss, but succeed as a team leader.”

Dr. Fagbemi encouraged the new AMLSN executives to foster unity and collaboration in support of the current administration’s vision for healthcare development in Oyo State.

The Chairman assured the association of the board’s readiness to address the concerns raised and promised that lasting solutions would be implemented.
