Explosion: Grand Imam of Oyo State, Sheikh Agbotomokekere commiserates with victims, commends Makinde for his swift response

..Calls on Imams in Oyo State to remember the State in prayer at tomorrow’s Juma’t service

The Grand Imam of Oyo state, Sheik Abdul ganiy Abubakr Agbotomokekere, has commiserated with victims, the Oyo state Government, and the people of Oyo state over the Ibadan explosion.

Agbotomokekere, in a condolence message on Thursday to the families of those who lost their lives, also commended Governor Seyi Makinde-led State Government for his prompt intervention.

While describing the incident as sad and unfortunate, he expressed concerns about the well-being of victims recuperating and appealed to philanthropists accross the country to also come to their aid by ameliorating the untold hardship such wanton destruction would bring on them.

He said: “I commiserate with Oyo State Government led by Governor Seyi Makinde, and the entire people of Oyo state especially those affected by the Ibadan explosion.

“This tragedy is not only regrettable and heartbreaking, but it’s also a severe financial hit to a lot of the impacted families.

“I pray that God will give those who have lost loved ones the strength to cope with their loss and that God will assist those who have lost property in making up for their losses.

“I must also commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his prompt involvement. It is good that the governor visited the scene, and it is also praiseworthy that he promised to pay the medical bills of those who sustained injuries.”

Agbotomokekere, who is also the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, however commended security operatives and rescue workers who have swung into action since the incident happened while calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.

He equally called on imams in Oyo state to remember the State in prayer at tomorrow’s Juma’at service, praying that such an ugly incident won’t reoccur again.
