Ibadan, Oyo State – Asiwaju Oladimeji Olatilewa Ayinla, an aspirant for the Ido Chairmanship, has expressed commendation for Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision to provide a ₦10,000 monthly transportation allowance for civil servants. This initiative aims to alleviate the challenges posed by rising fuel costs, a situation that Ayinla describes as unfairly endured by Nigerians due to external conflicts.

In a statement praising the Governor’s empathy, Ayinla highlighted Governor Makinde’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the people. “His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, has consistently demonstrated that he transcends mere populism. He has shown a genuine understanding of the citizens’ struggles, even prior to his tenure as Governor,” he stated.
Ayinla emphasized that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is dedicated to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being of citizens, asserting, “The PDP will continually align with efforts that make Nigerians feel at ease in their own country.”

His commendation comes as Oyo State follows the lead of other states in enacting measures to ease the burden of fuel price hikes on its citizens. The initiative aims to provide a degree of financial relief for civil servants and other residents facing economic pressures.

Governor Makinde has reiterated his commitment to the ideals of the PDP, asserting, “I will continue to remain in PDP even if others choose to leave,” while underscoring the party’s ability to present a viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Echoing the Governor’s sentiments, Ayinla expressed his belief that the PDP is capable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges, despite the current difficulties facing the nation. He remains optimistic, stating that these challenges are merely temporary.
