A former Commissioner for Works and Transportation in Oyo state, Professor Abdulrahman Raphael Afonja (PARA), on Saturday urged Muslims to maintain their commitment to the purity and sanctity observed during Ramadan.

Afonja, who also joined the Muslim faithful to perform Umrah in the Muslim Holy Land during Ramadan, advised Muslims to continue to focus on spiritual growth and community bonding after Ramadan.
This was disclosed in an Eid-el-Fitr message issued by the Ogbomoso-born certified Engineer, who is also an agricultural administrator.

Afonja said that the Eld occasion does not only signify a conclusion of fasting, prayer, and introspection but also a period to foster unity, compassion, and generosity within the Muslim community and beyond.

Afonja said: “I congratulate all Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the fast in the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

I urged Oyo state residents, especially the Muslim faithful, to continue to devote themselves to prayers for unity, peaceful coexistence,e, and progress of the state.
The former Oyo commissioner enjoined Muslims to be their brother’s keeper and render a helping hand at all times, noting that one of the lessons learned from the Holy Month of Ramadan was that of assistance to the needy, which every Muslim should imbibe, prayed Allah SWT to accept supplications, prayers and the good deeds of the Ummah during the blessed Month.
