Economic Hardship: Tinubu Holds Crucial Meeting With Makinde, Other Govs At Aso Villa
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday held a crucial meeting with the 36 states Governors in Nigeria at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
The meeting, which commenced at about 11:30 am, was also attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FTC) Chief Nyesom Wike; and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
At the meeting, the Oyo State Governor, Engr.Seyi Makinde was represented by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul Raheem Adebayo Lawal to deliberate on the state of the nation.
The meeting dwelled on the state of the economy, security and food production.
President Tinubu while addressing the meeting invited opinions from the National Security Adviser, Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service and Selected state Governors on the critical issues under consideration.
He spoke about the establishment of state police as one of the measures to tackle insecurity thereby calling for the setting up of a committee to coordinate the realisation of the objective.
President Tinubu said that intensive food production was the way out of inadequate food supply in the country noting that food importation could never be a solution
He warned food hoarders in Nigeria to desist from the unpatriotic act or face the wrath of Government.
The President equally urged state Governors to utilise federal allocation for the good of their citizens.
The state Governors however appreciated the practical demonstration of commitment of President Tinubu to salvaging the myriad of problems confronting the nation.
They pledged their unalloyed cooperation to the federal government’s efforts aimed at improving living conditions in Nigeria
