…Cites Governor Makinde’s continuous commitment to health workers welfare


The Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, has appealed to members of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Oyo State Chapter, to maintain their commitment to patient care and not participate in the proposed nationwide strike action.
Dr. Fagbemi made the appeal in reaction to the propose strike of National Association of Nigeria Nurses And Midwives tomorrow Wednesday, 30th of July, 2025.

Dr. Fagbemi acknowledged the rights of health professionals to advocate for improved welfare and working conditions but emphasized the need to recognize the unprecedented support and responsiveness of the Oyo State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to the demands and welfare of healthcare workers across the state.


“The administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has consistently demonstrated goodwill, responsiveness, and genuine concern for the health sector.

Most of the demands made by nurses and other health professionals in the state have been met with magnanimity and prompt attention,” Dr. Fagbemi noted.
He further recalled that a meeting was held recently with the leadership of the Oyo State chapter of the National Association Nigeria Nurses and Midwivesl, during which he advised against joining the proposed national strike.

The leadership, in response, assured the state government of their intention not to participate in the industrial action.
Dr. Fagbemi urged the nurses to remain steadfast in their service to the people of Oyo State, stating that any disruption at this time would undermine the progress already made in strengthening the state’s healthcare delivery system.
He concluded by reaffirming the Board’s commitment to continuous dialogue and partnership with all healthcare professionals to address concerns constructively and prevent actions that may negatively impact patient care and public health.
