Subject: Update on Recent Development Concerning Recognition of Degrees from Universities in the Republic of Benin
The Management of ESPAM Formation University wishes to formally inform our parents, students, lecturers, staff and the wider ESPAM community of an important development regarding the recognition of university degrees obtained from institutions in the Republic of Benin.

Following deliberations at the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has recommended that the Federal Government rescind the blanket invalidation of degree certificates obtained from universities in the Republics of Benin and Togo. The Committee further recommended that the Federal Government adopt a case-by-case verification mechanism to address confirmed instances of academic fraud, rather than maintaining a blanket ban.

Management wishes to commend and appreciate the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for taking a thoughtful and balanced approach to this issue. The move towards verification and due process demonstrates the government’s commitment to protecting the integrity of education while ensuring that genuine students and accredited institutions are not unfairly affected by the actions of a few.
We also wish to express our sincere appreciation to our parents, students, lecturers and staff for their patience, resilience and continued support during this period of uncertainty. The dedication of our lecturers, the professionalism of our staff, and the trust and cooperation of parents and students have been instrumental in helping the institution remain focused on its academic mission despite the challenges faced during this period.

The Management equally appreciates the understanding shown by our alumni and partners who continued to stand by the institution while engagements and consultations were ongoing.

At this moment, we wish to inform the community that ESPAM Formation University is awaiting official communication from the Federal Ministry of Education of Nigeria regarding the implementation of this recommendation. We are also expecting formal directives to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) outlining the modalities for the verification and mobilisation of eligible graduates.
As soon as the Ministry of Education and NYSC issue the necessary guidelines, the University will promptly communicate the next steps to all affected students and graduates.
ESPAM Formation University remains committed to upholding strong academic standards, transparency in its processes, and the continued development of its students.
We thank everyone in the ESPAM community for their patience, trust and continued confidence in the institution.
Signed
Management
