As Nigeria commemorates Democracy Day, the Chairman of the Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA), Hon. Abideen Adeaga, has called on citizens to unite in resilience and patriotism as the nation continues to navigate through economic and social challenges.

In his Democracy Day message, Hon. Adeaga reflected on the significance of June 12 as a symbol of Nigeria’s hard-fought journey toward democratic governance, urging Nigerians not to lose sight of the sacrifices made to attain and preserve freedom and civil rule.

Democracy Day reminds us of our collective power and responsibility,” he stated. “While we face economic hardship and societal strains, our strength lies in our unity, our shared values, and our resolve to build a better future.”

Hon. Adeaga emphasized that though the country is going through a tough period marked by inflation, unemployment, and insecurity, these trials must not dampen the national spirit. He encouraged all tiers of government, civil society, and the private sector to collaborate more intentionally in alleviating the burdens faced by ordinary Nigerians.

As the Chairman of OYCSDA, Hon. Adeaga reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to grassroots development through inclusive, community-driven projects that directly address the needs of vulnerable groups. He also highlighted the role of democratic governance in ensuring equitable distribution of resources and the importance of transparency and accountability in public administration.

Our democracy must work for the people — not just in rhetoric, but in real, measurable impact. That’s what we at OYCSDA strive for every day,” he added.

He concluded with a call to all Nigerians, especially the youth, to remain hopeful, active in civic life, and determined to uphold the democratic values that bind the nation together.

As the country marks another milestone in its democratic journey, Hon. Adeaga’s message serves as both a sober reflection and a rallying cry — for strength in unity, faith in progress, and commitment to a shared national purpose.
