Residents of Elebu, Wire And Cable, Ire Akari, Alada, Agbofieti, and some neighboring communities have urged the Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde to fulfill the promise he made to them during his election campaign in 2019.

The residents said that Governor Seyi Makinde while seeking their votes for his election in 2019 promised to rehabilitate the only major road that links over 35 communities at Wire and Cable in Apata, Ido local government.

In a jointly released statement, the communities acknowledged the unrelenting effort of Governor Makinde to continue to embark on building infrastructure that impacts the economy of the state.

They commended the governor for his impact on infrastructural development in Ido local government, emphasizing on the recently commissioned Omi Adio-Ido Junction Road and the ongoing reconstruction of Ido-Eruwa road.

The residents however beg the state governor to extend his inner road fixing project to them at Wire and Cable with the neighboring communities.

According to leaders of the communities, they said, the only road that links Wire and Cable to Agbofieti serves 35 communities, but it has been deplorable and has worsened due to the negligence of the government over the years.

They said that Governor Seyi Makinde experienced how bad the road was when he visited them to seek votes during his election campaign in 2019 and promised rehabilitation within 100 days in office if elected.

“it is five years gone, and the governor seemed to have forgotten he made such a promise to us”.

The statement read:

1. First and foremost, we the residents of Wire And Cable, Prospect, Ire Akari, Ita-Faaji, Ana Olori, Alada, All Saints College, Agbofieti, and other neighboring communities in Ido local government
area is writing to appreciate your excellence in your ongoing effort on developmental projects in the state.

2. In particular, we acknowledged your infrastructural projects in Ido’s local government. The recently commissioned 10km Omi Adio-Ido Junction Road and ongoing Ido-Eruwa road construction as well as Akala-Owode road construction
is highly commendable sir.

3. Moreover, we implore your excellency not to relent in making sure all your campaign promises are fulfilled, especially where places you visited and know the pains of the residents

4. YouExcellencycy, when you came to us in 2019, you experienced our plights on the road and promised to rehabilitate the road for us if we voted for you.

5. Your excellency sir, the bad Wire And Cable-Prospect-Ire Akari-Ita- Faaji-Ana Olori-Alada-All Saints College-Agbofieti link road you campaign on in 2019 is now worsening, motorists and residents in the area are now having a hectic time moving on the road as a result of potholes and craters that have taken over a major part of the road.

6. We breathed a sigh of relief when you were declared the winner of the election, with the hope that, our days of suffering were numbered because we know you are a promise keeper, but over five years now, our agony has continued.

7. As we said, we believe you are humane and a true promise keeper, it is either you forget you made such a promise to us or thought you had fulfilled it.
