The President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barr. Ajeniyi Ajewole, on Monday led a distinguished condolence delegation to the Alalubosa residence of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin (Ige I), to sympathize with the bereaved royal family.

Prominent personalities who visited the Royal Family included the Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo Glorious, and the National Coordinator of the Yoruba Council of Youth Worldwide (YCYW), Asoju Odo Alawode Rahmon, alongside other traditional and civic stakeholders.

The delegation was received by Elder Osuolale Olakulehin and Hon. Sumbo Owolabi, Crown Prince and former Oyo State Commissioner, who welcomed the guests on behalf of the royal family. The mood was solemn as tributes poured in for the late monarch, who was widely praised for his peaceful disposition, unifying presence, and unwavering commitment to the development of Ibadanland.

Barr. Ajewole, speaking on behalf of the CCII, described Oba Olakulehin as “a father to all, whose brief but noble reign was a blessing to Ibadan.” He extended heartfelt condolences from Ibadan sons and daughters globally and reaffirmed CCII’s support for the Olubadan stool and its cultural significance.

Dr. Temitope GLORIOUS, in his tribute, expressed profound grief, noting that “Oba Olakulehin’s wisdom, dignity, and love for Ibadan’s growth will forever remain in our hearts.” Asoju Odo Alawode Rahmon equally honored the monarch, describing him as “a towering pillar of Yoruba culture and a father figure who inspired the younger generation.”

Special prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the departed monarch and for divine comfort for the entire Olakulehin family during this period of mourning.

This visit is part of a series of condolence tributes being paid by dignitaries and institutions across Ibadanland in honor of the late Olubadan, whose legacy continues to echo across the traditional and cultural corridors of Yorubaland.
