*BOAAT Founder, Amofin Beulah Adeoye, Assesses Damage at Ground Zero, Initiates Support for Vulnerable Victims in Ibadan*
In a swift and compassionate response to the recent tragic explosion in the Dejo Oyelese area of Adeyi, Old Bodija, Ibadan, *Amofin Beulah Adeoye, founder of the Beulah Olufemi Ayanfe Adeoye Trust (BOAAT)*, visited the scene to assess the damage and took swift action to provide immediate and necessary support to the affected community.
Visiting Ground Zero of the scene on Saturday evening, January 20th, Amofin Beulah Adeoye, accompanied by his team, expressed heartfelt condolences to the victims present at the site and pledged immediate assistance through the Trust. Recognizing the pressing needs of the low-income, homeless, and helpless victims, Amofin stated that the foundation is committed to providing relief to those most affected through various support schemes.
According to him, “whilst we have the wealthy and more prominent residents in the estate, we also have some vulnerable citizens who do not even know where to begin. This segment of the community have suddenly become refugees in what used to be their city, their town, their homes, their refuge. We must not forget them.
“Remember there are still those holding up hope that somehow their missing family members are still alive, whilst the excavation and evacuation of debris is ongoing. To them, it is still a search and rescure mission. For this, I must commend the agencies working hard day and night under the coordination of the Government. I personally interacted with over half a dozen agencies present on the site even late into the evening from the Military to the Police, Canine Unit, Amotekun, Fire Service, Red Cross, Civil Defence , State Emergency Management Agency and Residents Representatives all united towards one purpose – providing immediate support on site for victims and their families.
“Indeed, there are difficult days ahead of us and even more difficult realities to face. Take for instance the inevitable decision to safely demolish the structures that can no longer stand, due to the effect of the blast on their structural integrity. What used to be peoples’ homes, then suddenly becomes bare land.
“We also have the long and painful physical recuperation for the injured. What of the mental, emotional and psychological healing from the hurt and trauma for scores of people that experienced the blast and its aftermath or burdens of memorial services and interment for those who lost loved ones?
“We need our people to know that we are not leaving them to experience this tragic incident alone. We will stand by them today and through it. His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde and his team, notably Prof Alonge and Compol Owoseni together with the inter-agency professionals, officers and men that support them have worked tirelessly and we must all rally round to support them. The recovery will be long and hard, but hand in hand we can make it less painfully so.
“I call on the good people of Oyo State, our neighbours and friends across the country and diaspora to rally round and support in whatever little way. “
In a significant announcement, the Ipapo-born philanthropist and Financial Expert declared the Trust’s relentless commitment to providing lunch for the low-income victims on-site, community workers involved in the evacuation efforts, and also the security operatives in managing the aftermath of the tragic event.
The BOAAT team through her representative, Mr Popoola Hassan delivered meticulously prepared and packaged food items, along with a generous supply of water, directly to the site. During this delivery, Mr. Hassan Popoola, who delivered the food items on behalf of the Beulah Olufemi Ayanfe Adeoye Trust (BOAAT) , conveyed a powerful message from the Founder.
In an official statement, Amofin Beulah Adeoye further shared, “Our hearts go out to the victims of this tragic event. It is our duty, as part of the larger community, to stand together in times of need. The BOAAT is dedicated to offering assistance and resources to help rebuild and restore the lives affected by this unfortunate incident.”
The State Chairperson of the Emergency and Incident Response Team, Professor Alonge, received and acknowledged the vital donation, he expressed profound appreciation for the timely support.
Professor Alonge in his speech emphasized “the gravity of the incident, revealing that more than 230 houses were decimated, resulting in substantial financial losses.”
Amofin Adeoye promised through the BOAAT Trust to extend the provision of lunch to one week of free feedings and on-site support, standing as a beacon of hope during this challenging time
