The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, has received warm congratulations from Oloye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke, Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, on completing 100 days in office.

In a statement, Adegoke expressed pleasure in extending his congratulations, wishing the monarch a distinguished and prosperous reign marked by wisdom, peace, and progress for Ibadanland’s people. He hailed the ascension of Oba Rashidi Ladoja to the throne as a milestone achieved and a blessing to the city of Ibadanland. Oba Ladoja was officially crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on September 26, 2025, succeeding the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025.

The coronation ceremony was held at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, where he was formally presented with the staff of office by Governor Seyi Makinde. Oba Ladoja’s ascension to the throne is historic, as he is the first person in Ibadan’s history to have served as a democratically elected Governor of Oyo State (from 2003 to 2007) and then ascend to the throne of Olubadan.

In his initial days as Olubadan, Ladoja elevated five traditional chiefs within the Olubadan line of succession in November 2025, a standard process in the Ibadan chieftaincy system. He has also renewed his plea for the creation of an Ibadan State, arguing that the city, as Nigeria’s largest indigenous city, deserves autonomous status.

Before becoming monarch, Ladoja was an engineer, a businessman, and a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is known for his patience and adherence to the traditional system, having spent decades progressing through the chieftaincy ranks.

Oloye Adegboyega Adegoke commended the transformative impact of Oba Ladoja’s reign, citing improvements in Ibadan City’s overall landscape. He credited the monarch’s rich experience and leadership for bolstering traditional institutions, fostering growth, and advancing Ibadanland’s development agenda.

Oloye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke is widely respected for his tireless efforts in promoting and preserving Ibadanland’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and dignity. His dedication to the community’s growth and development has earned him recognition as a sincere and committed advocate. Through his work, he’s helped showcase the best of Ibadan’s traditions, fostering unity and pride among its people.

He fervently wished the Kabiiyesi a long, prosperous reign on the ancestral throne, praying for continued wisdom, good health, and sound judgment. May his leadership be blessed with peace, progress, and the well-being of Ibadanland’s people.
