Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, Chairman of the Oyo State Project Performance and Monitoring Agency (OYSPPMA), has disclosed the Oyo State government’s plan to tackle the traffic congestion at Iyaganku junction.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, the OYSPPMA chairman highlighted the chaotic traffic conditions at Alesinloye and Iyaganku junctions, especially during peak hours.
He emphasized the daily challenges faced by commuters, drawing parallels to the previous successful interventions at Gate Agodi and UI junction.

Open Salawu further mentioned the government’s intention to improve Iyaganku junction, aiming to ensure smooth traffic flow for all commuters, whether traveling from Ring Road to Jericho or from Iyaganku to Dugbe.


His words: “Alesinloye and Iyaganku junction total chaos, especially evenings. Daily commuters know the struggle and traffic’s nightmare at that junction. We saw the same issue at Gate Agodi and UI junction before they got fixed by the state Government.Newspapers
“Oyo State Government proposed to sort out Iyaganku junction. The idea’s to make it smooth sailing whether you’re heading to Ring Road from Jerico or Dugbe from Iyaganku.

“Upgrading infrastructure is widely considered a necessary investment for long-term economic growth, competitiveness, and improved quality of life, even though it entails significant short-term costs and disruptions. Modernizing systems like energy and transportation networks is crucial for fostering efficiency, supporting industrial growth, and building resilience against future challenges.

“People that are developing in any part of the state should endeavour to obtain building plan approval, it ensure construction projects comply with safety standards, zoning, and building codes, protecting public welfare, integrity and protection of investment.
“We all want functional city and is a shared goal that requires active citizen participation and support to transition from vision to reality.”
