The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the good people of Akinyele Local Government on the occasion of the New Year 2026, praying that Almighty God makes the year a prosperous, fulfilling and rewarding one for all.
Hon. Akinleye expressed deep appreciation to the residents of Akinyele Local Government for their unwavering support, cooperation and prayers since the inception of his administration, assuring them that their goodwill remains a major pillar of the achievements recorded so far. He urged them not to relent in their support and prayers for the continuous growth of Akinyele Local Government, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
In a statement signed by his Chief Media Aide, Ogundipe Miracle, the Council Chairman called on residents to continue to live together in peace, harmony and love, stressing that unity remains the strongest tool for sustainable development and collective progress in Akinyele Local Government.
Addressing the people, Hon. Akinleye reflected on the passing year, noting that as 2025 draws to a close, it is important to appreciate God for His faithfulness, drawing inspiration from the popular hymn “Count Your Blessings” by Johnson Oatman Jr. He emphasized that despite economic challenges and pressures faced by many families and businesses, the year was not without its blessings, achievements and moments of hope.
According to him, “2025 was a remarkable and eventful year in the history of Akinyele Local Government, marked by both challenges and significant milestones”. He noted that through the resilience of the people and their consistent prayers and support, the Local Government recorded notable progress, including the execution and advancement of key infrastructural projects and people-oriented programmes in line with his administration’s development agenda.
“I heartily congratulate all residents of Akinyele Local Government on witnessing the New Year 2026,” Hon. Akinleye stated. “It is my earnest prayer that the new year will usher in greater opportunities, peace, prosperity and fulfilment for our people and our dear Local Government. As a government, we assure you that 2026 will be a defining year in our collective journey to position Akinyele at the height it truly deserves.”
He disclosed that several landmark projects were delivered in 2025, while many others initiated by his administration are at advanced stages, with 2026 set as the timeline for their completion and commissioning for public use. He added that numerous ongoing initiatives across critical sectors of development, once completed, would significantly transform the Local Government and improve the standard of living of its people.
Hon. Akinleye emphasized that the successes recorded so far would not have been possible without the steadfast support, encouragement and prayers of the people. He therefore appealed for sustained cooperation, assuring residents that his administration remains committed to fulfilling all promises made during the campaign period.
“Our administration has continued to work diligently with its development blueprint, gradually but consistently reducing infrastructural deficits and creating an enabling environment for economic growth,” he noted. “These efforts have continued to attract more people and investments to Akinyele Local Government, reaffirming its status as one of the fastest-growing Local Governments, driven by sound governance and a business-friendly atmosphere.”
Reaffirming his commitment to service and replicating the good deeds of his Principal, The Executive Governor of Oyo State Engr Seyi Makinde, Hon. Akinleye assured residents that their trust and support would never be taken for granted. “We remain resolute in our promise to always put the people of Akinyele first in every decision we make. As we journey through 2026, may we have even more reasons to look back with gratitude and testify to the many great things the Lord has done. May your year 2026 be greater, brighter and more rewarding than 2025.”
