In a bid to advance educational opportunities for students in Oyo State, the Information Technology firm Precix Tech, in collaboration with the ATM Foundation, has awarded empowerment scholarships in ICT skills to the best graduating students from selected secondary schools in Ibadan, the state capital. The scholarship flag-off ceremony took place on Friday at Easy Prevarsity – ATM Building in Ibadan.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Adelabu Salihu, commended the organizers of the initiative. Represented by the Deputy Director of Senior Secondary Education, Tayo Stephen, Salihu noted that such interventions significantly contribute to the development of education and technology in the state.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to fostering educational and technological advancements, advising participants to remain focused and attentive as they acquire new ICT skills.

Salihu remarked, “On behalf of the Oyo State government, we appreciate your contributions to the development of education and technology in the state.

I urge you all to continue supporting the current administration’s efforts to promote education.

To the participating students, I encourage you to pay close attention to the new skills you will be learning today. The ideas and knowledge gained should be shared with your peers who could not attend.”

During the official flag-off of the initiative, Dr. Kazeem Akande, Chief Executive Officer of Precix Tech, emphasized the program’s aim to empower students who have recently completed their Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) with ICT knowledge.

Dr. Akande highlighted that ICT skills are invaluable for students preparing for external examinations, including the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Post-UTME.

Dr. Akande further elaborated that the scholarship program, which spans eight weeks, will cover ICT training and career guidance.

The most outstanding participants will be awarded gift items and scholarships to study at any of the organization’s partner universities.

He added that Precix Tech is dedicated to providing ICT solutions with a special focus on international ICT training, data communication and information systems, website design, sales and repair, and installation integration for individuals, corporate entities, government, and non-governmental organizations.

This initiative is a significant step towards enhancing the educational and technological capabilities of students in Oyo State, equipping them with essential skills for future academic and professional success.
