The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has commended the efforts of the Oyo State Governor towards the upgrading of the Ibadan Airport to an international standard.
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman of House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, stated that the upgrade would be a landmark achievement for the people of the South West, saying the flag off of the project signals a great move towards achieving a buoyant economy.
Speaking through a statement signed by his Media Group and made available to journalists in Ibadan, on Wednesday, Agboworin noted that the move is expected to boost economic growth and development in Oyo State.
He also lauded that fact that Hajj pilgrims would be able to fly directly from Ibadan Airport to Saudi Arabia after its completion.
The statement read, “This upgrade is part of Governor Makinde’s efforts to transform the state’s infrastructure and it’s a significant step for the South West region.
“I have the believe that the upgraded airport will not only improve air travel experience but also increase economic opportunities for the people of the state. By the time the airport achieves its international status, more businesses will be attracted to the area, creating jobs and stimulating growth in the state.
“I want to also commend the fact that Hajj pilgrims will be able to fly directly from Ibadan Airport to Saudi Arabia by the time the Airport is completed. This is a great achievement for us.
“No doubt, this development is a testament to Governor Makinde’s commitment to improving the lives of Oyo State residents and positioning the state for economic success.”
