*Afonja attends annual Ramadan Tafsir, gift N1m, food palliative to Muslims faithful in Ogbomoso*

In a display of generosity and solidarity with the Muslim community during the Holy month of Ramadan, Prof AbdulRahman Afonja, the Former Oyo State Commissioner for Works and Transport, on Sunday, attended the annual Ramadan Tafsir at the Ogbomoso Central Mosque, Oja Igbo.
During the event, Afonja who was in company of PDP members, announced a significant financial gift of N1 million to the Muslim ummah and distributed food palliatives to those in attendance.
The event, organized by the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Imam Teliat Yunus Olushina Ayilara II, drew a large gathering of Muslims faithful who were eager to partake in the spiritual and communal activities of the Holy month.
Prof Afonja, known for his philanthropic efforts and commitment to community development over the years, spoke passionately about the importance of supporting one another during challenging times.
He emphasized the need to alleviate the economic hardships faced by many individuals and families, especially in the month of Ramadan.
“I attended this program today in Ogbomoso and gave out palliative food items and 1 million Naira to cushion the negative economic effect that our people are facing,” Prof Afonja stated, highlighting his dedication to uplifting the welfare of the people in his community.
The Ex-Commissioner also used the occasion to plead with Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the Imperial Majesty, and the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso Land to shield their swords and make out of court settlement about the ongoing warfare that has been eroding the town over the past few months.
He noted that if some individuals are the one instigating the conflicts, they must stop, adding that what matters is to keep praying for Oba Ghandi and the progress of Ogbomoso.
The generous gesture from Prof Afonja was warmly received by the attendees, who expressed gratitude for his thoughtful contributions towards easing their financial burdens and ensuring a meaningful Ramadan experience for all.
Imam Teliat Yunus Olushina Ayilara II, however commended Prof Afonja for his continuous support and generosity, noting that such acts of kindness and solidarity will continue to strengthen the bond of unity within the community as well as reflect the true spirit of Ramadan.
The event concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, and unity, reaffirming the significance of communal harmony and mutual support during this sacred month.
