Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan concluded the 2023/2024 NPFL season on a high note with a 1-0 victory over Sporting Lagos. The decisive match took place this evening at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, and was graced by the presence of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who was there to provide moral support to the home team.

The game’s only goal came early in the first half, courtesy of a well-placed shot by Christian Pyagbara. His strike proved to be the difference in a tightly contested match that saw both teams fighting hard for supremacy. Despite several attempts by Sporting Lagos to equalize, Shooting Stars’ defense held firm, ensuring they secured all three points.

Governor Makinde’s presence was a significant morale booster for the players and the fans. His support underlined the importance of sports development in Oyo State and his administration’s commitment to promoting local football.

With this victory, Shooting Stars finished the NPFL season in 4th place, accumulating 62 points from 38 games. Their consistent performance throughout the season has been commendable, reflecting the hard work and dedication of both the players and the coaching staff.

On the other hand, Sporting Lagos faced a tough end to their campaign. Their 17th place finish with 46 points confirmed their relegation to the Nigerian National League (NNL). The team will need to regroup and strategize for the next season to bounce back stronger.

Overall, the match was a fitting end to the season, showcasing the passion and talent present in Nigerian football. Fans left the stadium with high spirits, celebrating the success of their beloved Shooting Stars and looking forward to the next season with renewed optimism.
