YULETIDE SEASON: IBADAN NORTH WEST COUNCIL BOSS BANS CARNIVALS.

In his efforts to reduce crime rates and ensure an enabling environment for all and sundry within the Council area,before during after festive period,the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju has banned carnivals and other illegal gatherings outrightly across the nooks and crannies of the Local government Area.
He gave the directives at the December Local Government peace and security meeting held at the Council secretariat Onireke Ibadan.

According to the Council Boss, carnivals were meant to generate funds for the development of the community rather, the youths have turned it to opportunity to engage in immoral acts like stealing, smoking, raping, pickpocket and other nefarious activities hence the need for the outright ban of carnivals and any illegal gatherings during and after the festive period.

The Chairman reiterated that anyone found wanton shall be officially dealt with regardless of socio political status. Alh Adepoju implored the security operatives to enforce the directives on all concerned and ensure that security of life and properties of the residents of Ibadan Northwest Local Government are their priorities.

On traffic congestions in some areas within the Council area, the security personnels condemned the barbaric attitudes of the cycliists and motorists most especially at Eleyele area . They suggested that there should be database of all cyclists and motorists within the Council area as this will help track down anyone that committed or co-opted in any criminal acts.

On the issue of recent fire outbreaks in some areas, the security operatives advised that everyone should be mindful in handling electrical appliances and burning of bushes this period. All these should be done with cautions to avert fire outbreak. Also, use of fireworks during this festive period should stop outrightly. They maintained that the havoc it causes is more than the fun derived.

In their separate remarks, the security operatives eulogised His Excellency, Gov Seyi Makinde for his unalloyed supports for all security agencies in the state through provision of adequate facilities needed for effective security network across the state. In addition, the Executive Chairman was also commended for his complimenting efforts in the security sector. They urged him not to relent in his service to humanity

The Council boss appreciated the efforts of all the security operatives for their professional inputs in ensuring a peaceful co-existence in the council area and the state in general.

He assured the security personnels of providing all necessary logistics needed to avert incessant criminal activities within the Council area and the state in general.

The program had in attendance the Vice Chairman, Alh Ganiy Omotosho, Representatives of Security operatives, community stakeholders and the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Olaronke Ige.
