In an ongoing effort to maintain robust relationships with all stakeholders within the youth constituency, the Oyo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Odoba Abel Oche, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development Chairman, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana.
The familiarization visit aimed to strengthen the relationship between the Oyo State NYSC and the Agency for Youth Development with a vision to promote national unity.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Odoba Abel lauded Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana for acknowledging his presence in his office and for reaching out to stakeholders in the state to garner more support for the scheme.
Odoba commended the sustainable development agenda of Governor Engr Seyi Makinde, noting the creation of a conducive environment for Corps members with adequate security and the payment of 15,000 naira to all Corps members, plus a 13th-month salary across the board.
The State Coordinator acknowledged the governor’s efforts in transforming the state through improved infrastructure, stating, “Anywhere a road goes, development follows.”
He praised the proactive and cooperative spirit of the Youth Agency Chairman, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, and assured him of a collaborative relationship to enhance performance.
“Oyo NYSC is a recipient of the Presidency Awards in Abuja, thanks to the support of His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde. Our camp is among the best in the federation.
I appreciate the receptive nature of the Oyo State people, the State Assembly, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the State Governor. He is indeed the People’s Governor,” he said.
“When in Rome, behave like Romans. The humility and gestures of the Yoruba people are worthy of emulation.
I love the tribe; it is a true picture of African culture and traditions. I will forever be grateful for the warm reception,” he added.
He urged other stakeholders to join the governor in transforming the Pacesetter State to greater heights while assuring the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development of proper partnership and support for adequate service delivery.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo, acknowledged the positive changes implemented by the State Coordinator through the promotion of discipline, transparency, and integrity among Corps members, setting an example for other states.
He applauded Governor Engr Seyi Makinde for his youth-inclusive government across all sectors, parastatals, and agencies.
He was quoted saying, “The governor’s significant strides have inspired all youths to support him and learn from his productive leadership and good governance. His support for the ‘Not Too Young to Rule’ bill by appointing youths across all sectors has greatly advanced the state. Our agenda with His Excellency is to make the state a model for others.”
“NYSC has continued to save many of our youths from joblessness. I look forward to partnering with Oyo NYSC for youth inclusivity.
My office is open to encourage, train, and sensitize youths for positive self and national development, preparing them for future leadership roles,” Adebowale stated.
He highlighted the agency’s functions and activities across the state and its 33 local government areas on youth policies and programs.
He called for total synergy with the NYSC officials in Oyo State to foster a productive working relationship and further sensitize the Corps members in line with the agency’s programs.
It would be recalled that the Youth Agency Chairman paid a working visit to the NYSC State Coordinator last week Friday.
In the entourage of the Oyo NYSC State Coordinator were NYSC Human Resource Manager Ngozi Arifayan, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics Folayan Kayode, Assistant Director of Corps Discipline and Reward Dr. S.O. Babalola, and Community Development Service Officer Mrs. Sylvian Oluwaseki Arinoola, among others.
