*Let’s Grow Oyo State Together, Pay Your Land Use Charge Now — MOE Charges*

••• _Here are four main reasons why every property owner should heed this call and fulfill their civic duty:_

The Convener of Oose Seyi Movement Volunteers (OSM), Hon Moyosoreoluwa Olamilekan Eldreez a.k.a IJOBA AUTHORITY MOE has charge the residents of Oyo State that it is imperative to understand the gravity of paying Land Use Charge (LUC) promptly.

MOE charged all residential, commercial, educational, health, and industrial property owners in the state that it is mandatory, by law, to fulfill their civic duty by promptly settling of Land Use Charge bills for the year as early as possible.

Recall that, on the 9th of February, 2024, Oyo State Governor, H.E Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE signed this obligation into law, making it clear that non-compliance will result in severe consequences.

According to the Honorable Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon Williams Akin-Funmilayo, the government’s directive for payment compliance is NOT NEGOTIABLE— it is a legal mandate crucial for propelling our beloved state towards greater heights.

“It’s now a sin for anyone not to pay LAND USE CHARGE (LUC) due yearly as enforcement team are already charged to kick the ground running”, Akin-Funmilayo stated.

And even beyond that, compliance is both a bureaucratic requirement and a fundamental pillar for propelling our beloved state towards greater heights. Here are four other compelling reasons why every property owner should heed this call and fulfill their civic duty:

1. Investment in Infrastructure and Development:
The revenue generated from the Land Use Charge plays a pivotal role in financing crucial infrastructure projects across the state. From road maintenance to the construction of schools, hospitals, and other public facilities, these funds are instrumental in enhancing the quality of life for all residents. By fulfilling our LUC obligations, we directly contribute to the advancement and modernization of our communities, ensuring that Oyo State remains a desirable place to live, work, and invest in, among all other states in our country.

2. Sustainable Urban Planning and Management:
Effective land use management is essential for fostering sustainable urban development and mitigating environmental challenges. By paying our Land Use Charge, we support the government’s efforts in implementing comprehensive urban planning strategies. This includes zoning regulations, land conservation initiatives, and the provision of essential services to both rural and urban areas. Let’s adhere to these principles, and create a more resilient and livable environment for current and future generations.

3. Supporting Social Welfare Programs:
A significant portion of the revenue generated from the Land Use Charge is allocated towards funding various social welfare programs aimed at uplifting the most vulnerable members of our society. From healthcare subsidies to education grants and poverty alleviation initiatives, these programs are instrumental in fostering social cohesion and reducing inequality. When we fulfill our LUC obligations, we contribute to the collective welfare of our fellow citizens, ensuring that no one is left behind in our pursuit of progress and prosperity which will be available for all.

4. Legal Compliance and Accountability:
The Land Use Charge is not just a fiscal obligation but a legal requirement enforced by the state government. Failure to comply with this mandate not only undermines the rule of law but also exposes property owners to potential legal consequences. When we pay our LUC on time and in full, we demonstrate our commitment to upholding the principles of good governance and civic responsibility. Moreover, adhering to legal requirements fosters transparency, accountability, and trust in government institutions, laying the foundation for a more equitable and inclusive society where everyone is equal.

Dear people of Oyo State, the payment of Land Use Charge is not merely a financial transaction but a civic duty that binds us together as responsible citizens of Oyo State. Let’s fulfill this obligation and contribute to the progress, prosperity, and well-being of our communities from Oke-Ogun one and two, Ogbomosho, Ibarapa, Oyo and Ibadan zones respectively.

Let us join hands in building a brighter prosperous future for Oyo State, where every resident including our unborn generations can thrive and prosper.

We can do it and we will do it, under the headship of the honorable commissioner for Min of lands housing and urban development, Mr Akin-Funmilayo Williams through the distinguished leadership of our able Governor, His Excellency Engr Dsc GSSRS KJW Abiodun Seyi Makinde FNSE.
