In a major boost to community development, grassroots security and political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has delivered 1,000 solar-powered streetlights valued at ₦29 million to identified dark spots and vulnerable communities across the Ibarapa zone.
The intervention is complemented by a separate donation of ₦10 million to the Muslim community in Lanlate to support the development of its central mosque and other community initiatives.
The two interventions further highlight Odidiomo’s commitment to grassroots development across the Ibarapa axis, particularly in Igangan, Idere, Lanlate and Igboora, where community leaders and residents have continued to acknowledge his developmental engagements.
The installation of the 1,000 solar-powered streetlights fulfils a commitment made by the federal lawmaker during a high-level APM Ibarapa zonal reconciliation and strategy meeting held in the area recently.

Speaking during the official handover, Odidiomo, who currently represents Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said his ambition to represent Oyo South Senatorial District in 2027 was anchored on practical interventions and people-oriented development rather than political promises.
He explained that the illumination of previously dark corridors across Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North and Ibarapa East would help improve public safety, discourage criminal activities, enhance security and stimulate economic activities, particularly for traders and residents who conduct business at night.
Presenting the ₦10 million donation to Islamic leaders and community stakeholders in Lanlate shortly after the Friday Jumu’ah prayer, the APM senatorial candidate commended the community for sustaining peace, religious harmony and civic unity.
He assured the gathering that, if elected to the Senate, he would pursue equitable representation and resource allocation, ensuring that the developmental needs of the Ibarapa zone receive adequate attention alongside those of the Ibadan urban communities.
Among the traditional rulers, community elders and religious leaders who witnessed the presentations were His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday Olusegun Oladejo (Oguntayi II), the Onilala of Lanlate; His Royal Majesty, Oba Kingsley Aderoju Oyelami (Olufiji II), the Onidere of Idere; Alhaji Yakub Atinuke Raji; the Chief Imam of Nurudeen Islamiyyah Central Mosque, Oja Oba, Lanlate; and Oba Isiaka Bayonle Kehinde (Oyedokun II), the Onitabo of Itabo, Lanlate, among other prominent stakeholders.
The traditional rulers and religious leaders offered prayers for Odidiomo and expressed support for his senatorial ambition, describing him as a leader whose commitment to community development is reflected in his interventions and contributions across Oyo State.
With the delivery of 1,000 solar-powered streetlights worth ₦29 million and the additional ₦10 million donation to the Lanlate Muslim community, Odidiomo has further placed grassroots infrastructure, community welfare and security at the centre of his campaign for the 2027 Oyo South Senatorial election.
