The member representing Oluyole State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, popularly known as Ilumoka Presenter, has donated medical supplies, patient record books, maternity cards and essential drugs to 16 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The donation, which underscores the lawmaker’s commitment to strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery, was presented at a symbolic ceremony held at Adaramagbo Primary Healthcare Centre, Olomi Academy, Ibadan.

The donated materials are expected to improve healthcare services, enhance medical record-keeping and strengthen maternal and child healthcare delivery across the beneficiary facilities.

Speaking at the event, the Oluyole Local Government Health Coordinator, Dr. Mudashiru Akanni, described the intervention as a significant contribution towards improving the health and wellbeing of residents.

However, he expressed concern over the low utilisation of Primary Healthcare Centres by residents, describing the situation as a waste of government resources invested in providing accessible healthcare services.

Dr. Akanni also raised concerns over the low rate of immunisation in the local government, noting that Oluyole was among the areas recording worrying immunisation figures.

He therefore urged residents to take advantage of the available healthcare facilities and ensure their children receive routine immunisation to protect them against preventable diseases.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government and APM candidate for Oluyole Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, commended Akintayo for consistently prioritising the healthcare needs of his constituents.

Olatunji recalled that the lawmaker’s healthcare interventions began with the enrolment of 5,000 constituents in the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme, alongside financial assistance to individuals requiring surgical operations.

He also disclosed that the local government would replicate the initiative at the council level between December 2026 and January 2027.

While urging residents to support Akintayo’s political ambition, Olatunji also called on the people of Oluyole and Oyo State to support APM candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Similarly, a former Oluyole Local Government Chairman and APM candidate for the December 2026 local government election in Oyo State, Hon. Olaide Popoola, described Akintayo’s interventions as a legacy-building effort aimed at supporting vulnerable members of society.

Popoola emphasised the importance of strengthening primary healthcare facilities, particularly given their critical role in providing essential medical services to women and children.

He commended the lawmaker for extending his support to grassroots healthcare delivery, describing the initiative as worthy of commendation.

In their separate goodwill messages, the former PDP Chairman in Oluyole, the Baale of Adaramagbo and the Oluyole Community Development Council (CDC) Chairman also praised Akintayo for his consistent contributions to the health sector.

They noted that the latest intervention was not his first healthcare-related initiative in the constituency, adding that his efforts were complementing the Oyo State Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across its 351 Primary Healthcare Centres.

Earlier, Hon. Waheed Akintayo reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare services and delivering more dividends of democracy to the people of Oluyole.

He explained that the provision of medical case notes and other patient record books would enable healthcare workers to maintain accurate records, monitor patients’ medical histories and improve the quality of treatment provided to residents.

The lawmaker further promised to sponsor more people-oriented bills and motions if re-elected, assuring constituents of his continued commitment to their welfare and development.

List of the 16 Beneficiary Primary Healthcare Centres

The beneficiary facilities, spread across the 10 wards of Oluyole Local Government, are:

– Ward 1: Ayegun PHC.
– Ward 2: Odo Ona Elewe PHC and Agbanlepanu PHC.
– Ward 3: Pegba PHC and Ajogbelede PHC.
– Ward 4: Ifelodun PHC, Irepodun PHC and Mosfala PHC.
– Ward 5: Aba Ode PHC and Idi Ayunre PHC.
– Ward 6: Latunde PHC.
– Ward 7: Adaramagbo PHC and Agric/Ile Sheu PHC.
– Ward 8: Oja Ibadan PHC.
– Ward 9: Onipe PHC.
– Ward 10: Odo Ona Kekere PHC.

The event attracted traditional and religious leaders, APM executives, matrons and representatives of the 16 beneficiary healthcare centres, among other stakeholders.

The intervention further highlights the importance of collaboration between elected representatives and local health authorities in strengthening primary healthcare delivery and ensuring improved access to essential medical services at the grassroots.
