ODIDIOMO DONATES BRAND-NEW MOTORCYCLE TO OKADA RIDER ATTACKED DURING MOLETE UNREST

The member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has presented a brand-new motorcycle to a commercial motorcycle rider whose motorcycle was reportedly stolen after he was brutally assaulted during the recent Molete market unrest in Ibadan.

The presentation, which took place in Ibadan, is part of the lawmaker’s ongoing efforts to restore the livelihoods of victims affected by the violent incident and provide relief to those whose means of survival were disrupted.

In an official statement issued in Ibadan by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, the federal lawmaker said the gesture reflects his commitment to protecting the welfare, security and economic well-being of his constituents.

Mustapha explained that the beneficiary, Adedeji Ismail Aliu, was reportedly attacked while lawfully carrying out his commercial motorcycle business within the Molete axis, leaving him without his primary source of daily income.

He added that the donation was made in fulfilment of Odidiomo’s pledge to support victims of the unrest and help them rebuild their lives after the unfortunate incident.

The intervention follows the earlier distribution of financial assistance to traders operating beneath the Molete flyover bridge, whose goods and trading assets were reportedly looted or destroyed during the unrest.

Reaffirming his commitment to responsive and people-oriented representation, Odidiomo, who is also the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, assured residents that he would continue to support constituents facing hardship as a result of violence and other unforeseen circumstances.

He stressed the importance of safeguarding the livelihoods of law-abiding citizens, particularly vulnerable residents whose daily survival depends on small-scale businesses and commercial activities.

Receiving the motorcycle, Aliu expressed appreciation to Odidiomo for his swift intervention, compassion and commitment to fulfilling his promise.

The beneficiary also called on security agencies to intensify investigations into the Molete incident, apprehend those responsible for the attack and ensure that anyone found culpable, including any proven sponsors, is brought to justice.

Aliu further assured the lawmaker that he would put the motorcycle to productive use to support his immediate and extended family, describing the intervention as a significant step towards restoring his means of livelihood.

The donation underscores the importance of timely support for victims of violence and efforts to help affected residents recover their economic independence.
