Arc. (Dr.) Ifeoluwa Akande has commenced palliative works on the long-deteriorated Jagun Elesin Road in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State, following appeals by community leaders for urgent intervention.
The road, which has reportedly contributed to several accidents and hindered the smooth movement of residents and motorists, has been a source of concern for the community.
In response to the concerns raised by the residents, Dr. Akande directed the immediate commencement of palliative works to restore the road’s motorability and ease transportation within the area.
As part of the intervention, several truckloads of sand have been supplied to the site, while arrangements have been made for the clearing of drainage channels. The necessary earth-moving equipment has also been hired to facilitate the work, which is expected to be substantially completed within a short period.
Speaking on the intervention, Dr. Akande reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, to improving the welfare of residents and delivering the dividends of democracy.
He noted that Governor Makinde remained committed to the people of Oyo State and pledged to continue emulating the governor’s people-oriented approach to governance.
“We will not stop emulating him,” Dr. Akande stated.
The architect also called on residents and supporters to vote for all candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the forthcoming general elections, including Engr. Seyi Makinde for President and Hon Adekanmbi for Governor of Oyo State, alongside other candidates of the party.
Dr. Akande, who chairs the Ibadan Airport Upgrade Committee, further assured residents of Ona Ara and other communities around the airport of the state government’s continued support for initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and promoting community development.
Members of the Ife Ona Ara Movement and the APM have been invited to witness the road and drainage palliative works in Jagun Elesin.
