There is fresh controversy in the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State over the candidacy of the party for the State House of Assembly.
Some party members and stakeholders of the ADC have come out to debunk claims by Abeeb Balogun, popularly known as AIB, parading himself as the party’s candidate, saying his name is not on the official list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The aggrieved party members in a reaction statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday said Abeeb Balogun should desist from misleading the general public and party faithful with false claims.
According to them, the only authentic, duly nominated and INEC-recognized candidates of the ADC in Ibadan South-West Local Government are Apanpa Kehinde Yisa for Ibadan South-West Constituency I and Owoseni Ebenezer Ayodeji for Ibadan South-West Constituency II.

They explained that after the party primaries, the names submitted to INEC and subsequently published were those of Apanpa Kehinde Yisa and Owoseni Ebenezer Ayodeji, and at no point was the name of Habeeb Balogun included as a candidate of the party.
The statement reads in part, “Our attention has been drawn to the activities of one Abeeb Balogun, AIB, who has been going around misleading the public that he is the candidate of the ADC. This is totally false and should be disregarded.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, the ADC candidates for the two constituencies in Ibadan South-West are Apanpa Kehinde Yisa for Ibadan South-West I and Owoseni Ebenezer Ayodeji for Ibadan South-West II. These are the names on the INEC list and they remain the authentic candidates of our party.”
Recall that Abeeb has earlier participated in PDP/APM primary and new electoral law signed says ” If your name is not on the part membership lists submitted to the INEC portal as at the time of submission, such person cannot be nominated by the party as candidate”
The party members further urged the leadership of the ADC at the state and national levels to call Abeeb Balogun to order to prevent unnecessary confusion within the party ahead of the election.
They also called on the general public, supporters and the media to always cross-check from INEC’s official portal and not fall for what they described as self-proclaimed candidacy.
They reaffirmed their loyalty to the party and pledged their full support for the victory of Apanpa Kehinde Yisa and Owoseni Ebenezer Ayodeji in the forthcoming polls.
