“Never wait till you are a millionaire before you add value to others” — Awotiku
In a remarkable demonstration of service, empowerment and community development, Amb. Dr. Kunle Awotiku, Director of Strategy and Senior Special Adviser on Political Matters to Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, Member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has marked his birthday by investing in people rather than merely celebrating himself.
Awotiku, who is also the Visioneer of the Kunle Awotiku Solidarity Group, in collaboration with well-meaning individuals, organised a five-day intensive vocational skills acquisition programme** from October 1 to 5, with October 4 marking his birthday.
The empowerment initiative, which attracted beneficiaries from different walks of life, provided practical training in a wide range of income-generating skills designed to equip participants for self-reliance and economic independence.

Among the areas covered were leather works, including shoes, slippers and bags; graphic design; fashion designing; Auto Gele; resin arts; baby crafts and bedding; makeup; hairdressing; artificial intelligence (AI); public speaking; turban making; cosmetology; tie and dye; and paint making.
The initiative transformed what could have been an ordinary birthday celebration into a platform for skills development, empowerment, generosity and community impact.
Rather than limit his celebration to receiving gifts and goodwill messages, Amb. Dr. Kunle Awotiku used the occasion to encourage others to embrace the spirit of giving and become instruments of positive change in society.
Participants and well-wishers were inspired to join the celebrant in thanking God for another year by responding to the needs of some children and individuals who attended the programme.
Several gifts were also presented during the celebration, adding colour and excitement to an event that was fundamentally centred on giving back to humanity.
In his remarks, Awotiku expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone who took time out to celebrate with him, as well as those who responded positively to his appeal to assist the children and other beneficiaries.
He also thanked friends, associates and supporters who celebrated him through gifts, phone calls, messages and other expressions of love.
According to him, God blesses those who give to support others so that they can continually have more to give.
The central message of the celebration was simple but profound: impact should not be postponed until one becomes wealthy.
Awotiku’s initiative demonstrated that whatever an individual has, whether resources, knowledge, skills, connections or influence can be used to improve another person’s life.
The beneficiaries were not merely given temporary assistance; they were exposed to practical skills capable of becoming sustainable sources of livelihood.
The initiative therefore represents a shift from merely giving people fish to teaching them how to fish, equipping them with knowledge and skills that can potentially continue to benefit them long after the celebration.
The celebrant’s principal, Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, was ably represented at the event by members of her Apex Team.
Speaking about his principal, Awotiku commended Hon. Adeniyi-Olajide for her contributions and numerous developmental initiatives, describing her as a leader whose efforts deserve recognition and continuity.
He consequently urged the people to support her and vote for her for continuity of greater works, stressing the importance of sustaining leadership that is committed to impacting lives.
The birthday celebration ultimately became a powerful statement about leadership, humanity and social responsibility.
Awotiku emphasised that doing good should not be reserved for the wealthy or those occupying prominent positions, but should be embraced by everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
“To do good is to represent God on earth. No matter how little you have, that little could be a great help to someone.”
That philosophy was brought to life throughout the five-day programme as participants acquired new skills, beneficiaries received support, and well-wishers were encouraged to turn gratitude into acts of kindness.
The initiative further reinforced the vision of the Kunle Awotiku Solidarity Group as a platform committed to empowering individuals, supporting vulnerable members of society and contributing to community development.
The group reaffirmed its determination to continue moving forward with initiatives that add value to individuals and society at large.
For Awotiku, the message from his birthday celebration is one that resonates far beyond the festivities:
You do not have to wait until you are a millionaire before you make a difference. Start with what you have. Give what you can. Empower someone. Lift someone. Add value.
And in doing so, you may just become the reason another person’s story changes for the better.
