Back to School: ADC Guber Candidate Adegoke Reaffirms Commitment to Education in Oyo

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Oyo State for the 2027 election, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, FCA, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the education sector and ensuring that every child in the state has access to quality and meaningful education.

Adegoke who is also Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, in a message to mark the resumption of pupils and students for the 2026/2027 academic session, described education as a critical foundation for the development of Oyo State, stressing the need for concerted efforts by government, parents, teachers and other stakeholders to build a sustainable education system.

The ADC governorship candidate said his vision for education would prioritise tackling the challenge of out-of-school children, with deliberate measures to ensure that more pupils are enrolled and retained in school.

According to him, no child should be deprived of education because of poverty, social circumstances or other challenges, noting that the future of Oyo State depends largely on the quality of opportunities provided for its younger generation.

Adegoke also pledged to promote policies that would ensure good numbers of pupils and students are consistently present in classrooms, while encouraging parents and guardians to make the education of their children a priority.

He stressed that improving enrolment must go hand in hand with creating conducive learning environments, providing essential educational facilities and ensuring that schools have the resources required to deliver quality instruction.

The ADC candidate further placed emphasis on the welfare of teachers, lecturers and other education stakeholders, noting that the people responsible for educating and mentoring children must be adequately motivated and supported.

He said a broader approach to education is necessary for Oyo State to produce young people equipped for the demands of a rapidly changing world.

Adegoke therefore expressed his commitment to broadening the education system in Oyo State by promoting academic, technical, vocational, digital and skills-based learning, giving students opportunities to discover and develop their abilities beyond conventional classroom education.

He maintained that education should not be limited to obtaining certificates, but should equip young people with practical knowledge, critical-thinking abilities, creativity and skills that can prepare them for employment, entrepreneurship and responsible citizenship.

As pupils and students return to school across the state, the ADC governorship candidate called on parents and guardians to support their children, while urging teachers and school administrators to remain dedicated to their responsibilities.

He wished pupils, students, teachers, parents and other education stakeholders a successful 2026/2027 academic session, assuring them that education would remain a major priority of his proposed administration.

Adegoke reiterated his vision of an Oyo State where every child has an opportunity to learn, every classroom is meaningfully occupied, education stakeholders are valued, and young people are prepared to compete and succeed in a changing global environment.
